After a 2 year introduction to insurance at a large national carrier, Ben founded Brush Creek Select from scratch in May 2008 with the sole purpose of providing better options for clients. Ben grew up in Overland Park, KS, attended the University of Kansas and came straight home to Kansas City and the insurance industry. Ben now lives in Prairie Village, KS with his wife Kari, two sons – Sarge and Webb and a brown labradoodle, Fancy. Away from the office, Ben enjoys the outdoors via golf, fishing, and hunting and loves to travel, especially with his family. Ben has been a licensed insurance producer since 2004 and loves educating, advising, and helping people deal with complicated insurance and financial solutions. Ben’s favorite part about this business is that every day there is a completely different problem to solve. Ben handles the financial insurance services cases within the agency, day-to-day operations, carrier relationships, and overall strategic vision for the agency.

Derek Broksieck
After a 1 year introduction to insurance at a large national carrier, Derek joined Brush Creek in 2013 and is the longest tenured associate at the agency with the most responsibility. Derek oversees all personal insurance servicing, claims and is basically a walking personal lines encyclopedia. Derek primarily handles the affluent market business at the agency and is Nationwide Private Client Certified. If you have been a client for more than a couple years, you definitely have spoken to him before. Derek resides in Kansas with his wife, two young boys, their dog and two cats. When he’s not thinking about insurance or spending time with family, he is usually out fishing or hunting. Derek is an avid bowhunter and an aspiring fly fisherman.

After graduating at the University of Kansas, Sean took a job working as an underwriting assistant at Philadelphia Insurance Companies. Shortly after, Sean made the decision to leave the carrier side and join Brush Creek Select. Sean’s passion for insurance and risk management was ignited after completing a summer internship at one of the world’s largest private insurance brokerages during his time in college.
With almost a decade of personal insurance experience as producer at Brush Creek Select, Sean absolutely geeks out whenever there’s an opportunity to help assist clients with their specific insurance needs. Sean’s specialties include providing custom-tailored insurance solutions for high net-worth households, physicians, athletes, and other public figures. Furthermore, Sean has established relationships with financial advisors and RIA’s all over the United States, performing independent third-party reviews for their client’s property and casualty needs.

Brandon started at Brush Creek in late 2022 coming from a large national insurance carrier. He came to the independent side of insurance to provide choices to clients. Brandon grew up in Leawood, KS, and is another Kansas Jayhawk alum in the office. Brandon enjoys spending time with his young daughter and being outdoors.

Zack started his insurance career in 2009. He enjoys helping clients manage their everyday risks, and with over 14 years of experience, he has a wealth of knowledge. Zack is a Kansas City native growing up in Olathe and currently lives in Shawnee. Outside of the office, you can find Zack on the golf course with his wife, Kelsey. He is also a big Kansas Jayhawks fan and enjoys watching all sports.

Nick grew up in Lenexa, KS and attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in Finance and Information Systems. During his time at KU, Nick was the president of the Insurance Club, helping students gain exposure to the industry by organizing meetings with insurance professionals. After graduating in May of 2020, Nick joined the Brush Creek Select team. His role at the agency is servicing existing clients and producing new business. Nick now lives on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City and spends his free time golfing, collecting vinyl records, and being around friends & family. Nick’s favorite part about the industry is helping people navigate complicated insurance products to ensure they obtain the correct coverages for their specific needs.
